What's the best way to give myself a home manicure?

FRENCH MANI/PEDI

I give my friends home manicures all the time. The method that I use is VERY easy and simple however... I can easily give them to people, but I can't give myself a manicure because I'm only right handed, so it's very hard for me to give my right hand a manicure. (I'm sure most people are like that though haha) but either way, these simple steps can help u give urself a pedicure and ur friends a manicure ^.^

What you will need: http://www.flickr.com/photos/41608984@N0鈥?/a>

White finger nail polish

Clear fingernail polish

Make-up brush

Fingernail polish remover

OPTIONAL:

Some people prefer to add a light tint to their nails, such as a light pink tone, or a light tan tone. I prefer just clear with my white tips but its whatever you prefer.

(i'm going to add links to pictures for you, so I'll update this in a few seconds. )

In the meantime, I would suggest cutting your fingernails evenly and filing them down to ur desired shape.

Step 1:

Start off with clean nails that you have cut and shaped

(will add pic)

Step 2:

Add white finger nail polish to the tops of your nails, add a little more than you want. It's easy to take away the fingernail polish, but you'll have to start over if you have to add more white polish.

Step 3:

Dip the brush into finger nail polish remover and carefully shape the white tip. (this may take some practice until your comfortable with it)

(Step 4: OPTIONAL

Add pink or tan tinted polish to the entire nail.)

Step 4 or 5:

After nail has dried add a clear coat to the nail and enjoy!!

First, making sure you have the right tools is key. You can pick everything up at a drugstore for less than you'd pay for a professional manicure. You need a good nail file, a nail buffer, cuticle scissors, an orange stick, nail polish remover, cotton balls, cuticle oil, clear coat and a color polish.

1 - Remove any polish on your nails - even if you aren't wearing polish, sweep a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover over your nails to clean them.

2 - Use the orange stick to push back your cuticles, and trim off any hangnails with the cuticle scissors. Don't cut into your skin, just trim off the dead stuff. Rub cuticle oil into your nails.

3 - File your nails - pretty easy, but the trick is to only move the nail file in one direction. If you saw it back and forth across your nail, the fibers break up and your nails will flake. Just move the file in one direction.

4 - If you have nail ridges, buff the tops of your nails to smooth them out with the buffer. Wash your hands to remove any nail dust and excess cuticle oil. Dry your hands well.

5 - Paint a clear coat on your nails, and let it dry for a few minutes.

6 - Color: You'll get the best coverage if you do 2 coats, and let it dry a bit in between. Make sure there isn't excess polish on the brush, and start the brush just a bit in front of your cuticle in the middle of your nail. Slowly drag the brush forward, then repeat on each side. Let the first coat dry, and repeat.

7 - When your nails are mostly dry, put on a clear cot on top to seal in the color. Don't touch anything for 20 minutes.

Just be patient and work slowly until you get the hang of it. Don't forget to put on hand lotion when you are done to keep your nails moisturized and healthy.
